Coding agent, Claude Code, or Claude bot?

These terms get thrown around loosely, which makes normal buyers feel like they missed a meeting. You did not. The language is just messy right now.

01

A coding agent

A coding agent is AI that can take action inside a development environment. It can inspect files, propose edits, run commands, and help carry out technical work.

02

Claude Code

Claude Code is one specific product surface for doing coding work with Claude. It is not a general label for every agent and it is not the same thing as a business workflow platform.

03

A Claude bot

When people say bot, they often mean a lighter-weight assistant in chat. That might be enough for questions and one-off help, but it usually is not the same as a system that runs recurring work with context, approvals, and logs.

04

Why the distinction matters

If you are a non-technical or semi-technical buyer, the real question is not which label wins. The real question is whether you need a coding tool, a chat assistant, or a recurring workflow that keeps running after the conversation ends.

What to do next

Pick the tool based on the job: code editing, quick chat help, or recurring business work. They are related, but they are not the same purchase.

If the idea maps to real recurring work, we can help decide the first workflow and the context it needs.
